This has been an awesome few weeks in BestofNancy!

As you know, our goal is to help, encourage and train members on how to sell their wreaths on the Internet. We recommend that you start with an Etsy store. When you open your store you are put on the “Etsy Honorable Mention List.”

This is an accomplishment to start your store and we want to acknowledge the hard work of those members. We also encourage each member to go and heart and favorite these new stores to help them get noticed.

We had about five new Etsy stores launched in the last few weeks and we are excited for these ladies and proud of them!

If we are this excited when a new Etsy store is launched, you can imagine how thrilled we are when they sell their first wreath! This is a major milestone!

We want to highlight the most recent stores with their first sale:

Marie

Susan
HearttoHeartNC

Go give them a visit! You will notice that we have add the stores of the members in the sidebar on the right.

This is a question we received in the forum from one of our members.

SHORT ANSWER: NO!!!

Nancy and I recently announced Passion Into Profits as our coaching arm of our business.

We have set up a unique website for our coaching business where we show you how to sell your stuff online.

I am not surprised by the question! In fact it was a good reminder that Nancy and I needed to address the roll of Best of Nancy.

First of all – here is the goal of our Passion Into Profits business:

“To enable artisans/crafters/creators to create an income stream by selling their creations on the Internet”

Best of Nancy was started for several reasons:

Nancy received 100′s of emails on wreath design questions

Nancy received tons of questions just on shipping of wreaths

Numerous questions are where and how to sell online

Numerous questions on pricing of creations

Many of you have said, “I want my own website“

Nancy could not answer every single question and move her business forward so she and I teamed up to provide a place for answers and training.

It was been great! We have had over 100 members in BestofNancy and have noticed that some members do well with this format but other members need more one on one help.

But one solution was not going to help everyone.

So we came up with a couple different models that we are rolling out over time:

Private coaching – for those who are serious about creating and growing a business and working one on one with Nancy and Linda. (You have to apply to be considered for this program. There are several key criteria that need to be examined first.)

Workshops – this is the latest program that we have announced. These workshops are held in Anderson, SC and you sit and learn wreath design from Nancy. There are private workshops, group workshops and business workshops.

Group Coaching/Training- There are going to be several layers in this section.

Level 1 will be the Best of Nancy training and forum.

Level 2 will provide more intense and structured training

Level 3 will add group coaching and accountability to the intense training.

In summary: Best of Nancy fits in with the overall goal of Passion Into Profits of helping you sell your products online.

Linda
PS The price of BestofNancy is increasing so get in now at the best price!

Happy New Year

It is cold here in South Carolina — no snow yet — but I’m sure it is coming. Personally, I like a couple of really pretty snows that don’t cover the roads too much, and are gone in 3 or 4 days. I know…that’s really expecting too much, right! So many of you have LOTS of snow right now, and are having MUCH colder weather than we are, so I think I’ll change the subject before getting myself in trouble! )

How many of you have already put up your Christmas decorations? I know Linda didn’t have to because she is enjoying a beautiful Caribbean Island right this moment. She should have at least invited us for a visit, right? teeheehee

Well, my Christmas decoration are still up, all except for our tree. That beautiful deco mesh tree I made in my last video was carried up into our attic on New Year’s Day by my son Andy, and Steve. And, I know what you’re about to ask — yes — it was still decorated! I love it! Now, it will be all decorated next year ready to pull down for Christmas. Maybe I’ll be able to decorate earlier next year with that part already done. I sure hope so.

I am looking ahead to Spring! I am ready for it! And…I’m also ready to make spring wreaths. As a matter of fact, I’m itching to make spring wreaths! So, I called the owner of my Favorite Vendor Location the other day, and we’re going to pay them a visit on Friday. They have all of their Spring and Summer ribbons out as well as some of their flowers. Time to load up again. I won’t be taking my video camera this trip, but will wait a few more weeks until everything is in. Then, we’ll start on the newest update of The Secret Vendor List.

I have been thinking about New Year goals (not resolutions). It is important to make each and every customer feel that they are SO important. How do you feel when you walk out of a business after being pampered, and waited on (without distractions) and talked to? How does it feel when you leave with a smile on your face knowing that you will definitely want to visit them again?

One main goal of mine in 2013 is to make each student and customer feel that way after doing business with me, or after learning from me. I want each one to feel as special as they really are! So, I am planning and making lists right now. How about you? What would you do to make your “virtual, Internet” customer feel that special? Yes, there are ways…

What about a small, tasty piece of candy tied to their special wreath or other product purchased? What about a thank you card, or printed piece of paper added to your shipping box which thanks them for their business, inviting them to shop again. Maybe a 10% coupon to be used on their next purchase would be enticing…

There are many ideas I can come up with that I want to implement in this new year. I would like for you to be thinking about ideas for your products too. Let’s share them with each other. Let’s become the “go to” person each time for returning customers.

Do you remember your customer’s name from a previous purchase? That’s hard when you sell as much as I do, but I’m working on a system.

I wish for each and every Best of Nancy member a Happy and Prosperous New Year with businesses which grow beyond belief as your skills and goals change and grow along with them.

I am very grateful for each and every one of you! xoxo ~Nancy~

Selling Your Product, Your Brand, or You?

I read an article in Entrepreneur magazine this morning, and think it is so important for each of you to read as you think about using this idea with your business strategy!

But first…a little more about me….

For many years, I sold my products; my wreaths, my arrangements, my bows and my style. For a very long time, I said nothing about me or my story, adding only just a little here and there as time went on.

Yes, I realize now that I do have a compelling story that can reach and encourage so many of you, although it is still about things I don’t like to talk about!

But, I do have a very strong desire and determination to go wherever God leads me — to fulfill whatever God’s dreams are for me! That is where I will be; there is no hesitation because it is where I will be the happiest as I do my best to fulfill my task for which God has put me upon this earth.

It was God who led me to realize, that I have a story (however hard it may be to talk about), which can give hope to others as it imparts the knowledge that EACH ONE REALLY CAN fulfill their dreams no matter what obstacles may have been holding them back.

It took me many years to get to the place where I felt comfortable talking about “me”, feeling all along the circumstances were all my fault. “I should try harder, I should do better, my faith isn’t strong enough…”, I told myself over and over and over!

Oh, how I wish I had known then how I was a victim of things I had no control over! I had a beautiful mother I thought didn’t love me — finding out long after her death she was really ill with the same problems which have plagued me. Feelings of being unworthy as well as unlovable have always been a struggle.

In my case, there were so many things, things that made me ashamed that my life wasn’t as productive, joyful and exciting as those around me, as well as those I dealt with on the Internet. I was ashamed of those feelings of inadequacy (my low self-esteem), and the fact that maybe I hadn’t tried hard enough to overcome all the health issues which plagued me for almost 35 years now.

I now know that God DOES want me to tell my story! I know that my story helps so many other women who have suffered illnesses as well as felt the same inadequacies as I did. So, I DO tell about me. All of you know about me! I don’t hold it back any longer…

Do you customers know you? Do they know where you came from? Do they know the story of why and how you are where you are at this very moment in time? And do they know why you are selling on the Internet as you make your beautiful creations every day?

In other words… “Do they know, like and trust you?” Well, they should!!
Think about what I have said above as you read this very informative article!!

Read this well written article below. I think it will help you succeed in your business. It will help your “online” customers get to know the “real you” as you sell your wares…

It truly is VERY IMPORTANT as they learn they can KNOW, LIKE AND TRUST YOU — YOU ARE VERY SPECIAL!

A Quick Guide to Making Your Brand’s Story More Compelling by, Joanna Lord

In a lot of ways, people don’t buy products anymore — they buy your business’s story. That means companies must constantly refine their stories and present them in innovative ways.

A brand story envelops your mission as a company, your culture and your history: How did you get started? Why do you do what you do? Where are you going?

Because shoppers are so connected through social networks, marketers should aim to present their stories in such a way that people will want to share them and their friends will want to connect with them. One advantage of social media is that we can have some control of our story. We can either passively hope people find our story appealing — or we can intentionally shape it to try to resonate with prospective customers.

Here are a few suggestions on how to convey a more powerful story:

Develop your “why.”
One of the best things a company can do is be transparent about why it is doing what it does. My favorite model to help brands push past the “what” and “how” of their story and find their “why” is Simon Sinek’s Golden Circle Theory. This theory focuses on “Why do you wake up in the morning?” and “Why are you so passionate about this?”

Not quite sure how to go about brainstorming your “why”? Try these suggestions:

Ask your customers: Put up a blog or Facebook post asking your customers why they stick with you.

Ask your employees: Your team is the closest to what you are doing and the why behind it, so ask employees why they work for you and what motivates them to come in every day.

Read your web mentions: Google your company’s name and see how people are talking about you out on the web.

Share your “why” in distinctive ways.
Make your story engaging and easy to share. Social media consumes one out of every five minutes spent online, according to a recent study by Reston, Va.-based digital analytics firm comScore. That means your audience is most likely spending a significant amount of time online sharing content. Here are a few ideas for getting customers to share your content:

Put a video on your site. Rather than just telling your story in text in the About Us section of your website, create a video as well. It could feature employees talking about why they work for you and how they hope the company’s products or services will help customers. Be sure to make it personal.

Post photos. One of the easiest ways to enhance your story is to add images to your site or social network. If you have a cool office or store, showcase it. Also, post photos of customers and your team to highlight the people behind your brand’s success.

Add a few quotes. Many sites put up long testimonials from customers, but you should go further. Get quotes from your leadership, customers and business partners that help tell the “why” of your story. Then showcase only the words or sentences that really tell the story and give them a beautiful visual treatment.

Related: How to Be Unforgettable Online

Give your “why” more real estate.
Is your company’s story tucked away in the footer of your website with an “Our Story” link? If so, it’s time to give your story greater visibility. Ideally, your story should be laced throughout the text on your entire site, but that can be challenging. Instead, start with some of these baby steps toward giving your story more of the spotlight:

Put it on the home page.Rethink which content should get this prime real estate. What could be better than putting a video up on your home page that describes why your company exists and why you do what you do? Tell people something that encourages them to learn more about you.

Link to it from social profiles. Companies are investing heavily in social media and teams to manage those conversations. Make your story a critical part of that interaction. Link to videos or website pages that help your followers understand what makes you special.

Write about it on your company blog. Your blog can be a great place to call out your story. Transparency in business resonates with customers, so talk openly about both your company’s struggles and successes.

Marketers should rethink what exactly they are selling. With so many products out there and so much noise in the social sphere, it’s your story that can really differentiate you. Careful attention to how you tell that story and how you showcase it can make all the difference.

Do you have a garden which needs some ambient lighting?
How about Cottage Garden Lighting?

There are many types of gardens in many different styles. My own personal favorites are as varied as the styles in my home decorating, and in my wreaths designs. If I had to narrow it down, I would use these terms to describe my garden… French, English, Cottage, or eclectic.

For example, I have many bird feeders and bird houses (the older, more rustic ones, of course). I have some pieces of old wrought iron, with green peeling paint, left over from an old home being torn down, strategically placed… lol… Well, it is just situated where the mood strikes me, if you really want to know! And, believe it or not, I have an old mantle propped up against the side of the house — with peeling paint, of course.

There are many, many other treasures spread throughout my English/French country garden which I won’t go into right now — because I want to talk about lighting in a garden.

I came across a really neat idea the other day that I want to share with you.

I Know You Can’t Wait to Hear About This Amazing Idea… Right?

Just look at the picture above. This is an old chandelier — maybe copper at one time, or one of the burnished looks. Notice that the light bulb holders have been removed which leaves a little hole in the cup to add something else…like a solar light! I have done the same thing with candles before… but I like the solar light ideas so much more, it will be safer, cheaper in the long run, and easier!

Now, look at the picture to your right. Obviously, this is a completely different chandelier than above. This is probably the way one would like that you might find at a tag or yard sale.

You need to remove the white cardboard tubes which hold the chandelier bulbs, and pull out the wiring. Each one will be different; some may have a spot to hold your solar light, and some may not. Just be creative — sometimes a little glue, or wire may be just the thing you need to attach your solar lights to your old yard sale find — making it look exceptional in your garden.

To the left is a picture of the same chandelier after being painted a little.

This one probably has been spray painted with some of the pieces removed, making it have a more simple look. Try mixing a little brown and gold paint to get this look. I personally, like a little green patina, so I would probably rub some green paint on top of this one before finishing it. And, as far as I am concerned, if it rusts, then WooHoo! That is a look that I love and try to duplicate quite often — so don’t worry about that. It seems to fit into the outside even more when there is some rust showing through.

Notice how on this particular one, the cups which hold the solar lighting just fit right in after the cardboard light holders and wiring have been removed. I do want to point out again, that each and every one is different, so I think it would help you to know exactly which types of smaller solar lights are available. Before writing this newsletter, I went to Amazon and typed in Solar Lighting.

There were numerous shapes, colors, sizes, and forms. I saw several that I want to order for myself right away! Did you know that you can even purchase Christmas lights that are solar? If you are like me and enjoy having Christmas lights in the tees of your garden year round, just imagine how much money these would end up saving you.

“Oh Honey… come here a second. I have found something that I love and really want to purchase…” Teeheehee….

Now, below is the finished Chandelier glowing in the night.

I don’t know about you, but I am finally going to do this with the three Chandeliers I have been holding onto for quite a while. I just knew the moment I saw them, that I would do something wonderful with them one day. Well, that day has finally come.

Isn’t it just lovely? Imagine inviting friends and neighbors over to sit outside, enjoying each others company with maybe some homemade cake and coffee. Yummy… sounds good… y’all come on over, okay…. smiling…

Still Receiving Comments From Faithful Followers…

Record numbers of friends and customers have been visiting my new website in the last two weeks! I am really “blown away” by your comments and well wishes!

I want to thank each of you so much for visiting, and looking around my site at all the the new pages as well as scrolling through galleries of wreath pictures for all seasons, and styles. It means so much to me, also, that you have taken time to leave truly heart-felt comments. Those have touched me so deeply!

Many of you have taken to heart how valuable my “Secret Vendor List” really is with all of its updates, and have purchased several this week. I cannot wait to see what beautiful creations you’ll be coming up with as you’re now able to purchase your supplies so reasonably.

If you’re not a member of my newsletter list yet, the LadybugWreaths News goes out every Friday morning (give or take a day or two according to life at that particular time…). I do try to get them out on time, because I have several faithful customers and followers who contact me if I am late, making sure that I’m okay. WOW, how blessed I am to have friends like all of you!

Free Video #6 – How to Make Door Wreaths – Let’s Anchor in our Bird House

The first five videos in my seven part video series: “How to Make Wreaths – Wreaths Tips by Nancy“.

You can watch all seven of them at NO CHARGE TO YOU – these are my gifts to you.

Why? Because I know many of you are aspiring designers who just need a little boost – a little help to get started. And, many of you, like me, have battled chronic illnesses for years.

I needed JOY, I needed something that made me feel good about myself again. I pray that this series does the same for you, getting you started on a path that leads — well — who knows where?

Video number one was released in January, when I showed you how to add honeysuckle and preserved sponge mushrooms to a door wreath.

And….SURPRISE! I am also going to be telling you how you can find out where I purchase my own greens at AMAZINGLY low prices!

Video number 2 and 3 show you how to add greenery to your door wreath.

Watch the videos here: “How to Make Wreaths – Wreaths Tips by Nancy“.

Video number 4 shows you how to distress a birdhouse. We wanted to make a brand
new bird house look old, worn, and used. I show you some fun ways to do that!

In Video #5, we are anchoring our birdhouse into the wreath using mosses, sponge
mushrooms, and my “secret” vine…

In Video #6, we finish anchoring the birdhouse, and add the rest of our greens all around the birdhouse making it look like it has been nestled in for quite a while.

(Next week I know you’ll enjoy putting the finishing touches on our birdhouse wreath as we add the final ingredient — our flowers! Then, finally, you’ll be able to see this totally finished outdoor wreath. I know you would want one hanging on your front door!

So, get ready, I’m sure you will want to begin purchasing your supplies, if you haven’t done so already!

Enjoy These Videos – Learn From Them, &
Remember, More Are Coming Soon!

Learn How to Make Wreaths

Finishing Our Greenery

The bird house wreath in our “wreath tips” series is really starting to come together. This is video number six; there is one more to go after this one. We are getting to the part that I always enjoy the most. This is where the wreath you’ve been working on is starting to take shape and you can actually begin to visualize how it will look. Yea!!!…

In this week’s FREE video, we are finishing anchoring our birdhouse to the wreath, which already has honeysuckle vine, and some of our greens. Also, we are going to finish adding greens as soon as the birdhouse is anchored. Remember I didn’t fill in the greenery too much in the location of the birdhouse. I wanted to make sure I could get it situated correctly before I filled in around it.

Now, you can see that our birdhouse is anchored in VERY securely. As a matter of fact, it will NEVER go anywhere. When you learn how to make a wreath from Ladybug Wreaths, we make sure you know how to anchor any item into your door wreath so that it never comes out.

Yes, here I am twisting some more around the birdhouse, and adding more greens. I left a lot of space around it so that I could get it in very sturdily. Now we’ll fill in all the empty spots.

Okay, you’re right… we are through with the greens! Guess what comes next week? You’re right again — it’s the flowers!! I can’t wait to start adding those, can you?

Stay tuned till next Friday. We will be adding our finishing touches! You don’t want to miss that one.

Learn How to Make Wreaths

How to Anchor in Our Birdhouse?

I Use Several Different Methods..

The bird house wreath in our “wreath tips” series is really starting to come together. This is video number five; there are two more to go after this one. We are getting to the part that I always enjoy the most. This is where the wreath you’ve been working on is starting to take shape and you can actually begin to visualize how it will look. Yea!!!…

In this week’s FREE video, we are adding our birdhouse to the wreath which already has honeysuckle vine as well as our greens. Remember that I left a spot right in the center for the birdhouse, and made sure I had a loop of honeysuckle vine curled out and ready to help hold it in? Well, I’m going to be showing you how we’ll take advantage of that spot..

I know you are wondering just how I am going to get this birdhouse anchored into a wreath tightly enough for it to really stay – especially if it is hanging on a door which opens and closes all day long. Well, we can. And it will be there to stay – for good!

Aren’t you wondering what the two green things are coming out from the back of my bird house? Well, I used two small eye hooks, screwed them into each back/side of the birdhouse, and tied pipe cleaners onto the hooks. Now, as you can see in the picture below, I am threading the pipe cleaners into my wreath and so that I can tie it in securely.

I don’t just stop with the loop of honeysuckle vine, and I don’t stop with the two pipe cleaners tied tightly into the wreath in two separate spots. I anchor it in with two other methods also. That is why I say this birdhouse will not be coming out for quite some time!

Can you see what I am now adding into my wreath? It is sponge mushrooms on sticks. When I stack these up as I am doing in the picture above, they look just like they are growing on a tree as they grow on top of each other. I am gluing these in tightly to add to the support of the birdhouse.

I know it’s kind of hard to see what I’m doing in this picture, but you’ll definitely be able to see this in the video itself. I am using yet another “anchor” for my bird house.

Have you ever noticed the main stem that everything is attached to when you purchase a garland to use in a wreath or somewhere in your home. Well, we have a lot of these, and this one is particularly great. It is green, wired, and very easy to curl and twist around. And, because of the wired stems, it will stay together wherever you twist it.

In the picture above, I am also wrapping this around my birdhouse. Now, we have anchored this house in with honeysuckle vine, pipe cleaners, sponge mushrooms, and next with sheet mosses with glue.

I’M TELLING YOU — THIS ONE IS IN HERE TO STAY!
