How Does Your Garden Grow?
How to Make a Wreath Like Your Garden
With silver bells, and cockle shells…
I’ll bet you remember that nursery rhyme. I certainly do:
Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells, and cockle shells,
And lady bells all in a row.
I’ll tell you right now, my own garden does not grow like that! As a matter of fact, my garden has been sorely neglected for the last few years — but even when it was in its ‘prime’, nothing was all in a row! lol There is no rhyme or reason to the order I plant. If it looks good, that is where it goes. That has always been, and will always be, my philosophy when it comes to flowers, greens and colors. I suppose you could compare my garden to my door wreaths! They are “Wild & Woodsy” . When I work in my garden, and make door wreaths, I always want to teach you how to make a wreath that is “Wild & Woodsy”!

As you can see from the picture above, that term “wild and woodsy”,
got WAY, WAY, WAY out of hand!
In the picture below, my wild & woodsy garden
has been tamed just a little and looks more like
my “wild & woodsy” door wreaths!

When I say my garden has been sorely neglected, it REALLY was sorely neglected. But, that’s okay, because we were taking care of some much more important things in our lives…you know…things which will make a difference throughout eternity.
So, the time had finally come to prune, cut back, dig up, plant and renew my “Secret Garden”. I’m calling it a secret garden, because that book from many years ago was, and will always be, my favorite!
As we were cutting back overgrown bushes, pulling up ground cover, as well as many overgrown trees and shrubs, we discovered the beauty that had been lying in wait for us to uncover all this time. As the underbrush gave way to beauty and light, several forgotten treasures emerged from their hiding places.
A beautiful bird bath had disappeared after it had been engulfed by a huge, weeping “Beauty Berry” bush. The bicycle I received when I was ten years old was totally hidden, but begging for the handlebar basket to be filled with my favorite flowers again. A concrete angel which I had purchased at a yard sale many years ago suddenly appeared – I didn’t even remember she was there. I was SO happy – her smile really fills me with joy! Oh, and when we uncovered my VERY OLD concrete bird, along with several concrete frogs, I was giddy!

Now, I know a lot of these things don’t mean as much to many of you as they do to me. But the point I’m making here is, there is beauty all around us. We may not see it. We may not even remember it. But, God in His wisdom has many beautiful surprises waiting for us in this world in which we live. It only takes a little work to uncover His beauty, bringing back to light what once had been.
Whether you are decorating your home, working in your garden, or designing a beautiful wreath with your own two hands, I think it would be good to remember…there is ALWAYS beauty within. Just look for it, work hard at it, and I’ll bet you will find it!
Second Free Video for You?
How to Make a Wreath; Let me Teach you How to Make
an XL Bird House Wreath…
You have already received the first two (2) videos in my seven (7) video series: “Wreath Tips From Start to Finish”. These will teach you how to make a large beautiful wreath – one that you will be proud to show off to all your friends and family.
In this series, I teach you from start to finish how to make a beautiful XL bird house door wreath! I have had many requests for years asking me how to make a wreath. Specifically they want to know how to make a bird house wreath so I decided to make this one a FREE video in my “Wreath Tips” series!

Remember, there are a total of seven (7) videos, and you can watch them at NO CHARGE TO YOU – these are my gifts to you. Why? Because I know many of you are aspiring designers who just need a little boost – a little help to get started. And, many of you, like me, have battled chronic illnesses for years. I needed JOY, I needed something that made me feel good about myself again. Learning how to make door wreaths did that for me. I pray that this series does the same for you, getting you started on a path that leads — well — who knows where?
The first video was released in January, when I showed you how to add honeysuckle and preserved sponge mushrooms to a wreath. (But we are not going to be adding a clay pot to this wreath, as I did in the first.) If you haven’t seen it, or don’t remember what we did, here is a link to it, and I certainly recommend watching that segment again:

The second video in my “Wreath Tips” series was about supplies and adding many greens to your door wreath. I get emails and requests all the time about the many different forms and types of greens I use in a wreath. Well, in this video, you will find out!
And….SURPRISE! I am also going to be telling you how you can find out where I purchase my own greens at AMAZINGLY low prices!
Here is the link again to this second FREE video. I hope you have been enjoying and learning from it.
I know without a doubt that after viewing the details and steps with me as I make a beautiful, full, extra large bird house wreath, you’ll be able to make your own also.
Now, it is time for video number three! In this video, we are continuing to learn how to make a wreath by adding a large mix of greens to our door wreath. It will be so much fun!

In the next video, we will certainly be having lots of fun again as we learn to do something totally different. I purchased a new, unfinished birdhouse from my local hobby store and distressed it. You’ll be surprised at just how easy this process is. I even got a piece of bark from one of my River Birch trees in my garden to use on the roof!!

Email from Joan:
Hi Nancy,
I just had to email you! I have watched 3 of the 4 new videos filmed at (one of your secret locations), and LOVE, LOVE, Loved them! I was lost in the flowers and greenery with you. I am so glad to be on your mailing list. When I get into my little craft area and start playing with these wreaths, I get so lost into them and just love creating something beautiful.
I have learned so much from you and in the winter when my life calms down, I DO want to join your coaching online. I’m soaking in all of the training from your videos! Your packing and shipping videos have been a blessing.
You and your work are appreciated!
